CD/DVD Replication and CD/DVD Duplication are two very different, commonly confused methods of reproducing discs. Although the quality of duplicated and replicated discs are virtually the same, the method in which the data is placed onto the disc is very different. By providing a bit-for-bit verification of your duplicated discs, Productivity Central is able to insure that the final disc will match that in quality to those produced via our replication process.
Replicated CDs or DVDs are commonly referred to as manufactured discs and are produced using injection molding. A glass master is produced from the original master, which is in turn made into a "stamper". This "stamper" is then placed into a mold to transfer the original master's data on to the aluminum reflective surface of the manufactured discs. The replication process takes approximately 9-10 business days, and includes a 3 color silkscreen of your artwork on to the disc's non-reflective surface. Printing can be upgraded to a 4 color screen print, or for higher quality offset printing can be used.
Duplicated CDs or DVDs are produced by "burning" your original data on to a CD-R or DVD-R (recordable CD or DVD). This process is ideal for orders under 1,000 CDs or 250 DVDs, and when a quick turn is required. Because of the minimal setup involved with duplication, the turn time and cost for smaller quantities is much less than that of replication. All of the same printing methods including silkscreen, offset, and thermal printing are available for your duplicated discs.
